"Need a hand?"

"Nah, this'll just take a sec."

Faith hops out of Wood's car, ignoring the obscene gestures and stream of crude curse words that the straggly blonde kid thinks are pick up lines, and enters the convenience store. The larger man watches her go by with a slightly wistful expression.

She buys her smokes, the two small town Jersey clerks not even pausing in their pseudo-intellectual pondering of Star Wars, women, and shit jobs as the money changes hands. She catches a brief snatch as she leaves the store.

"And I'm not even supposed to be here today!"*
